July's Randomness +Playlist
Heyleehooo,
July has been a very good month for me so far... I'm so glad everything got better.Just to follow up from my last blog, Elephant is no longer a part of the Sandjaja family.
Earlier this month I went to a short trip to Salt Lake City + Phoenix + San Diego + LA. It was an awesome get-a-way! Major stress reliever! phew!
Phoenix was VERY hot.. It felt like I'm in the oven whenever I go outside my hotel... Unfortunately I was doing my take home midterm while I was in Phoenix and Salt Lake so I didn't get to see much...
San Diego was amazing.. My brother, his g/f and I went to the Sea World.. <3<3 I shopped a LOT during my trip... Sadly they were not for me =o Yea.. I should've shopped more for myself... o well! That's a "baby" polar bear... It's SOOOOO cute! I want one... I can't stop staring at its paws and butt crack HREUAUERHRUEHRUEHUREHUREHUREHHRU I posted most of the photos on my gallery so feel free to check them out if you haven't: http://gallery.me.com/maria.sandjaja#gallery
What else is new... hmm well My parents just bought a new car to replace the elephant...
That car is VERY comfortable.. Perfect height for my dad so... after weeks of searching for THE car, we decided to go for the Acura *again*

History of Elephant
June 2010 is not a good month for me. Though I am slowing recovering, I got sick for approximately 3 weeks. Those of you who knows how I function, I don't get sick... easily... Some of you might have heard that I got into my very first car accident yesterday. I'm not here to talk specifically about what happen because I try not to think about it in detail (helps me sleep at night). Something terrible happened yesterday and all I can do is pray that the van, a.k.a "elephant," is not totaled.
Ever heard of someone saying "you never love something/someone until you lose it" ? This is true in many cases.A brief background on the elephant: gold colored Honda Odyssey '97 (mini van)
9 years ago, just a week after my family and I arrived in Vancouver, my dad purchased that car straight from the dealer. We looked at other cars but since we have a bigger family and we have a lot of belongings, my dad decided to get the van. I was still in elementary school and my dad used to pick me up/drop me (and my brother) with that car. Whenever I have field trips, I asked my dad if he can help the school to take some of us to the destinations (there was a teacher strike + gov't decided to lower the school budget at that time). In high school, elephant was the first car that my brother ever scraped and got into a deep trouble. It took us to various family road trips and drove all of us to and from the airport. It picked me up whenever I don't feel well from school and bring me home safely. Then, in university, after my baby civic was sold, elephant drove me to and from school safely. Some of my friends have been in it and most of them love that car. I have to admit, I got side tracked my our newer cars that I took the elephant for granted. When it collided with another larger van yesterday, it protected me from any serious injuries.

May/June Madness & Playlists
O hello.
I haven't blogged for a while. That's alright, you haven't missed much of me. I've been sick. Yes, I am human and I apparently can get sick too.. not often.. but I do get sick, I crash like it's the end of the world. I've been very mellow lately.. I think I consumed way too much drugs.. However I feel MUCH better now... K enough about myself...I just watched MTV Movie Awards 2010. It was hilarious.
Les Grossman was there and that totally made my day. I miss Tropic Thunder. Tom Cruise's best character. If you haven't seen the movie, here's a sneak peak of Les Grossman during the award.
Here's his clip:
Crazy news for all of you from my tech world:
1. iPad launched in Canada. May 28th 2010. A day to remember. I only have one word to describe that device "WoW."
It's very hard to describe the functionality because you have to feel it to understand... and no.. it's NOT a "giant iPod touch."
PS: My friends and I made it on the Breakfast Television =P YEAAAYUHHHHH I tweeted the link a while ago so you can check it out yourself.
Hint for all of you: My Christmas wish:
2. iPhone 4 news from Steve Job's keynote presentation this morning.
This new iPhone is making my current iPhone look obsolete. I'm impressed by its overall design and functionality.
Those of you who missed the keynote live blog, i LOVE the iMovie app. You can record videos on the go with that tiny device.
Also, you can video chat with someone now. YES YOU CAN ACTUALLY SEE THEIR FACE. WTF RIGHT!? IT'S SO EPIC.
Hint: This is also on my Christmas wish list:
Next is my super awesome announcement:
My eldest brother and I are going to San Diego/ Phoenix with some of his friends early July. This is a perfect getaway since I finish the first round of midterm madness at the end of June. We are searching for the a perfect house =) I was looking at some of the houses in San Diego and my eyes nearly popped out. With $400,000+ you can have pretty much a Mediterranean mansion with a pool on your backyard AND AND AND they have this man-made water where you can basically jet ski on your own backyard. It's amazing. Instead of buying a car, I told my brother that I will get my own jetski if he ended buying one of those houses =P
Alright... Time for some music. Here's the list of my random playlist. Enjoy!

ACE 2010 May 10th-13th
SIFE Simon Fraser team did it again! They blew the judges away during the competition and finished as one of the semi-finalists across Canada. I cannot express how proud I am of the presentation teams (Nationals + Water Challenge), tech teams, and the creative teams.
This year was my third year participating in the Advancing Canadian Entrepreneurship National Exposition. Just short years ago, I remember practicing tirelessly with the team to compete with some of the top entrepreneurial teams in the world. I had the opportunity to compete twice at the Nationals Exposition and team SIFE Simon Fraser placed SFU in the heart of ACE as semi-finalists.
This year, I had the opportunity to capture the highlights of this big event. You can view them: http://gallery.me.com/maria.sandjaja#100072&view=grid&bgcolor=black&sel=135
It was truly an honor for me to be apart of the team at this year's competition because the team takes good care of each other since day 1. As - I guess you may say an experienced presenter - there are frustrating moments. I can definitely relate this to this year's team. It certainly not easy to be on the spotlight being judged for every single word and behaviour that you do. Everybody gave their 110% efforts and made it as one of the top teams in Canada. Most importantly, none of our accomplishments would not have happened without the hours of hardwork from SIFE Simon Fraser's members. Without you guys, SIFE Simon Fraser would never send 30 students to see what ACE National Exposition is all about. Congratulations to SIFE Ryerson. Congratulations to SIFE Simon Fraser.
Here's my recap of ACE Nationals that I attended:

One more thing... Team, be proud of what you accomplished. You all did an amazing job! Even when the worst uncontrollable thing happened, you worked as a team and finished the competition flawlessly. Pat yourself on the back! Turn your disappointments into opportunities because that is the only way for you to make create greater positive impacts.
Now... It's time to enjoy some musica...

Main Causes of Liver Damage
The main causes of liver damage are:*1.** **Sleeping too late and waking up too late are main cause.*
*2.** **Not urinating in the morning.*
*3.** **Too much eating.*
*4.** **Skipping breakfast.*
*5.** **Consuming too much medication.*
*6.** **Consuming too much preservatives, additives, food
coloring, and artificial sweetener.*
*7.** **Consuming unhealthy cooking oil. As much a possible
reduce cooking oil use when frying, which includes even the best
cooking oils like olive oil. Do not consume fried foods when you are
tired, except if the body is very fit.*
*8.** **Consuming overly done foods also add to the burden of
liver**.*
*Veggies should be eaten raw or cooked 3-5 parts**.*
*Fried veggies should be finished in one sitting, do not store**.*
*We should prevent this without necessarily spending more. We just have to
adopt a good daily lifestyle and eating habits. Maintaining good eating
habits and time condition are very important for our bodies to absorb and
get rid of unnecessary chemicals according to **“**schedule**”*
*Because:*
@ 9 - 11pm : is the time for eliminating unnecessary/toxic chemicals
(detoxification) from the antibody system (lymph nodes). This time duration
should be spent by relaxing or listening to music. If during this time a
housewife is still in an unrelaxed state such as washing the dishes or
monitoring children doing their homework, this will have a negative impact
on health
@ 11pm - 1am : is the detoxification process in the liver, and ideally
should be done in a deep sleep state
@ 1 - 3am : detoxification process in the gall, also ideally done
in a deep sleep state
@ 3 - 5am : detoxification in the lungs. Therefore there will
sometimes be a severe cough for cough sufferers during this time. Since the
detoxification process had reached the respiratory tract, there is no need
to take cough medicine so as not to interfere with toxin removal process
@ 5 - 7am : detoxification in the colon, you should empty your
bowel
@ 7 - 9am : absorption of nutrients in the small intestine,
you should be having breakfast at this time. Breakfast should be
earlier, before 6:30am , for those who are sick. Breakfast before 7:30am
is very beneficial to those wanting to stay fit. Those who always
skip breakfast, they should change their habits, and it is still better
to eat breakfast late until 9 - 10am rather than no meal at all Sleeping so late and waking up too late will disrupt the process
of removing unnecessary chemicals. Aside from that, midnight to 4am is the
time when the bone marrow produces blood. Therefore, have a good sleep and
don't sleep late.
